Thirsty Monk Beers are Back!

From the Thirsty Monk’s Press Release

Asheville, NC – Aug 18, 2014: Norm Penn, Thirsty Monk’s head brewer, has been quite busy lately. Thirsty Monk Brewery, which until now has been on hiatus while installing new brewing equipment, makes its return to the Asheville beer scene on August 28th with the launch party for the newly rechristened Thirsty Monk Brewpub & Taproom in Biltmore Park, the exclusive place for local beer fans to find all Thirsty Monk Brewery offerings.

“We’re really excited to transition our Biltmore Park location to showcase Norm’s fantastic beers,” said Barry Bialik, Thirsty Monk’s President and Owner. “We also plan to barrel age and finish all beers on site, and we’re excited to fill a unique niche in Biltmore Park as South Asheville’s neighborhood brewery.”

The August 28th Launch Party will feature five beers – a Pale Ale, a Rye Pale Ale, a Belgian Blonde, a Porter and the cult-favorite, Bent Creek IPA. Following very soon behind is a new lineup, including an Imperial Red and many more additions.

Thirsty Monk’s brewing operation previously operated on a very small nano-brewing system, but with the addition of several new 7 barrel fermenters and finishing tanks, their capacity has greatly expanded. “We’ll have weekly releases at Biltmore Park of new beers, and we’ll also send a keg or two to our Downtown and Reynolds Village locations,” said Chall Gray, Thirsty Monk Vice President. “And yes, CocoNorm [Penn’s famous and enormously popular Coconut Porter beer] will be back on tap soon—in fact, Norm has agreed to wear his coconut brassiere for the release party!” Gray added.

Check in on Thirsty Monk’s Facebook and Twitter for forthcoming details on the launch party. With the addition of brewing capacity under Norm’s guidance, Thirsty Monk looks forward to growing its presence in Asheville’s growing craft beer movement, and expanding its prestige as a local and national craft beer destination.
