From the press release:
“FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Asheville, NC—4/3/2014: New Belgium Brewing, America’s third largest craft brewery will break ground in early May on their East Coast brewery, just outside of Asheville, NC. To commemorate the beginning of this major leap forward for Asheville’s beer scene, New Belgium is working with Asheville’s leading pub, the Thirsty Monk, for a special groundbreaking toast, that will include their Le Terroir Sour, which has never before been available on tap in Asheville.
Thirsty Monk, which was recently named one of America’s Best Beer Bars by Travel + Leisure Magazine has long been considered a leader of beer culture in the area. They plan to tap one New Belgium beer per day during the groundbreaking week, beginning on Monday, April 28th and culminating in a Friday evening tapping of the Le Terroir Dry Hopped Sour Ale, which has a 100% rating on the popular beer website www.ratebeer.com. “We’re thrilled to have such a great company coming to the area, and to be working with them to help celebrate the beginning of work on what will be an awesome facility down in the River District,” said Chall Gray, Vice President of Thirsty Monk.
Other beers that will be tapped during the week include the Transatlantic Kriek, and an extra-special keg of a Brett IPA collaboration between New Belgium and Asheville’s own Wicked Weed. New Belgium employees will also be coming to the Monk for a toast to celebrate the occasion. With this event and many others across the summer, culminating in ThirstyFest, their annual weeklong festival of rare beers, the Thirsty Monk continues to be the go-to place for beer lovers in the craft-beer friendly town of Asheville.”
